Onder andere met extra bomen op het grondgebied willen de lokale besturen hierop inzetten. Binnen de actie krijgt elk gezin die dat wenst een gratis boom aangeboden van het lokaal bestuur. Het lokaal bestuur betaalt de boom, de burger wordt gevraagd deze in zijn tuin te planten en te laten uitgroeien tot een volwaardige boom. Extra bomen nemen CO2 uit de lucht en zorgen bovendien voor verkoeling, extra biodiversiteit, een verbeterde waterhuishouding en zuivering van de lucht.
