Buying entity🇩🇰 Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization Buying unitnot reported Publication date2015-11-21 Contest statusnot reported DescriptionIn preparation for a possible future tender procedure, the Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) wanted to explore the possibilities that synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems provide for surveillance etc. in Arctic areas. In this regard DALO wanted to test a system with full polarimetric and interferometric capability and as many frequencies as possible. Thus, DALO chose to conduct tests in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) with F-SAR developed by DLR. F-SAR made it possible to explore five frequency bands in the range of 300 MHz to 10 GHz. The objective of the tests was to explore which features and frequencies best accommodate the needs of the Danish Defence, with due regard to a possible future purchase of an advanced SAR system. The tests has been carried out in 2 phases, the first phase was carried out in Denmark in the fall of 2014 (preparation for second test phase in Greenland) and the second phase carried out in the spring of 2015 in Greenland. Thus, the contractual relationship and cooperation with DLR has been conducted through 3 contracts. There has been a contract regulating each of the 2 phases, furthermore, the contractual relationship has been finished with a purchase contract in the fall of 2015 regarding purchase of specific pictures and results, especially from the test in Greenland. All 3 contracts are mutually dependent and connected as regarding the same project.Awards
