The new facilities will help to promote the Institute's activities in relation to biomedicine as regards research, teaching and the dissemination of results.This tender notice comprises certain specified equipment for use in the animal holding facilities. These facilities are automated and house mice and rats destined for use in vivisection. The holding facilities are based on an IVC system with associated AWS and systems for the filling, cleaning and emptying of cages and the cleaning of shelving. The holding facilities will have a capacity of 9 500 cages to mice, although a portion of that capacity is expected to be utilised in the housing of rats. Roughly 70 % of the capacity is expected to be reserved for breeding.The laboratory facilities are designed to meet the highest standards, especially as regards energy efficiency and reliability.
