Danmarks Statistik er forpligtet af bade dansk og EU-lovgivning i forbindelse med udarbejdelsen af de pagaeldende prisindeks. Udbuddet omfatter indsamling af priser fra ca. 360 forretninger, som er udvalgt af Danmarks Statistik, fordelt pa 20 byomrader landet over. Der indsamles priser fra supermarkeder, specialforretninger (f.eks. slagter og gronthandler), tojforretninger og skoforretninger. Fra hvert supermarked indsamles der typisk 50-80 priser, fra hver specialforretning indsamles der typisk 5-20 priser, fra hver tojforretning indsamles der typisk 8-25 priser, og fra hver skoforretning indsamles der typisk 15-20 priser. De udvalgte forretninger skal hver maned besoges af en prisindsamler. Indsamlingen foregar ved, at prisindsamleren selv gar rundt i forretningen og indsamler priser. Prisindsamlingen sker via handholdt PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), som tjenesteyder far stillet til radighed af Danmarks Statistik. Indtastningsfilerne fra PDA'erne med de indsamlede data sendes til Danmarks Statistik senest tre arbejdsdage efter prisindsamlingens afslutning. Indsamlingsperioden er fra den 7. til den 18. i maneden fordelt over to arbejdsuger. Hidtil har mellem 20-25 prisindsamlere varetaget opgaven. Det fremtidige antal fastsaettes dog af tjenesteyderen. Forud for overdragelse af opgaven og under kontraktens lobetid kan Danmarks Statistik stille krav om gennemforelse af uddannelsesaktiviteter for tjenesteyders prisindsamlere. En reduktion af prisindsamlingen i supermarkeder indgar som en option i kontrakten. Udgangspunktet er 99 supermarkeder. Dette antal kan reduceres til enten 38, 10 eller 0. Kontrakten traeder i kraft 1.1.2014 og lober indtil 31.12.2018, hvor den ophorer uden varsel. Kontrakten kan af Danmarks Statistik opsiges med 6 maneders varsel til udlob 31.12.2016 eller 31.12.2017.Awards
