The system is a single plane Philips Integris V-5000 and was installed and put into operation in the year 2000, at the Landspitali Campus in Fossvogur. The aim of the project is to upgrade the current system, which is a single plane, analogue image intensifier based system, to a single plane, fully digital Philips Allura Clarity system in the same room in the Dept. of Surgery. The current image chain and imaging computer system will be upgraded to a modern high resolution digital image receptor (Flat Panel Device) and image computer system and monitors of the latest technology with high resolution imaging and low patient dose. Other parts of the ceiling mounted system will also be upgraded as necessary, including the generator and X-ray tube and the project includes a 7 year service contract with a guarantee for the FPD and the X-ray tube. The upgraded system will be operated in the same facility as the present system making use of the onsite fixtures for this type of a system, such as special ceiling fixtures the rails that carry the C-arm, the base plate for the table, bolted into the concrete floor and cable channels in the floor and in the ceiling. The principal benefits of the upgrade are1. Significantly shorter downtime from system down until it is up and running again due to the continued use of the onsite fixtures.2. No onsite construction work:3. Economic gain4. General benefits, such as same working environment for the medical staff and a similar system to a new Philips coronary angiography system installed in 2014 for the technical staff to maintain.
