The NISC project forms part of MCST's Science Popularisation Strategy which shall serve to attract more students to the sciences and ultimately in the long term have more individuals taking up Science and Technology-related careers. The Project is located within the Bighi Naval Hospital Complex. The National Interactive Science Centre will be situated at the historical location of Bighi Complex in Kalkara which overlooks the splendid Grand Harbour. The Centre encompasses 5 linked buildings: the Hub ( reception, ticketing, gadget and a coffee shop), the Main Exhibition Building -- main exhibition with interactive exhibits and a dedicated area for young visitors of age 8 and under, the Activity Centre where science shows and workshops will take place, the Cot Lift Building which will host a static historic medical exhibition with some interactives of Villa Bighi Naval Hospital and the Planetarium Building which apart from the planetarium itself, will also house a Universe exhibition. The Outdoor Exhibition Area will deliver an exploration experience where the visitor will engage with nature and science-related interactive exhibits. It will contain several themed areas, including a garden and workshop space and 2 separate play areas: a Science Adventure Park for ages 8+ and a Science Playground for ages 8 and Under. In all, the site will occupy a total footprint area of approx 21 000 m2, with the buildings' footprint being of 4 300 m2 and the surrounding external area of 16 600 m2. The NISC will target primary and secondary school students, teachers, families, science enthusiasts of all ages and tourists. Through the various and diverse experiences provided at the NISC, science will be made relevant to the visitors and their everyday lives; and accessible to all, rendering science personally attainable. The Centre aspires to cultivate a culture of scientific curiosity and creativity by igniting a passion for questioning, investigation and discovery through encouraging visitors to explore, think, and imagine. The Malta Council for Science and Technology is seeking a design/fabrication, suppliers and installers firms to design, develop, fabricate and install interactive exhibits, for the National Interactive Science Centre (NISC) in Malta. The successful firm(s) must have professional expertise and significant previous experience. The interactive exhibits must be educational, engaging and technologically sound. The planetarium is to be of a high quality and technologically future proof. Contracts will be awarded via a competitive dialogue tendering procedure.Adjudicações
