Entidade compradora🇲🇹 University of Malta Unidade compradoranão reportado Data de publicação2011-10-22 Estado do concursonão reportado DescriçãoII.1.5.1 - Overall objectives. In the Maltese Educational system, the sixth form schools and colleges form the main feeder for students registering for University degree courses. Thus the provision of a holistic and stimulating academic experience at this level is important for the students to achieve the required grades and be encouraged to continue within the tertiary education. As of the main post-secondary college, from where the largest number of students continues with their tertiary education, it is imperative for the College to offer the best educational experience for its students.Such an educational experience cannot be offered in cramped classes, lack of individual attention during tutorial sessions as well as a lack of modern teaching infrastructures including audiovisual and ICT related aids. The project proposed would provide the necessary space to accommodate more students at a lower class population density, a higher ratio of lecturer to student number during tutorials as well as the availability of modern state of the art teaching aids.. This project links to the government initiative being implemented through the Foundation for Tomorrow's School to develop, build, upgrade, refurbish and maintain primary, secondary, and postsecondary schools that fall within the direct remit of the Education Department. As a post-secondary college directly administered by the University of Malta, the upgrading of this college compliments the Government's initiative. These improvements in the College environment would ensure that the students would have a fruitful, interesting and enjoyable experience in the two years of the Junior College as well as being able to socialise in a healthy environment that should help them overcome the difficulties encountered in the inevitable change between the secondary school and the University environment. All these initiatives have the aim of increasing the participation of students in post-secondary and tertiary education. This is demanded by the fact that Malta's economy, in line with the common EU economy policy, is changing from one of manufacturing to one based on knowledge generation. Moreover, it is the government's policy to encourage such a change. In a knowledge based economy the main resource is a highly educated and motivated working force. Such a working force requires the best educational facilities one can obtain both in the infrastructure as well as in human resources.II.1.5.2 - Specific objectives. The purpose of this contract is to procure the required lecture/tutorial room furniture, seating and equipment for the Junior College Building Extension at the University of Malta, so that the Building is rendered operational for the benefit of both the staff and student population at the University of Malta.
