The project also includes the training of a specific cohort of educators who will be implementing this tool with Third Country Nationals (TCN's) in schools. TCN learners in schools will be assessed through the use of the online assessment to determine the literacy strengths and needs of these learners in an efficient way thus resulting in a more effective and focused support in order for them to access the mainstream curriculum as early as possible. The Competency Checklists are meant to serve as a diagostic, referral purpose. The skills in these checklists are meant to assist the class teacher in identifying the learners' individual literacy needs, as well as guiding the strategic planning of teaching for the whole class. It online tool should investigate spelling, rhyming, alleteration, sound discrimination and reading. It should allow either for the individual or a group of TCN's to be assessed. The development of such a profiler aims at providing eventual support to TCN's. The project will include training to assist around 30 teachers in the use of the profiler. The project will be carried out in Maltese schools and includes the following. Call for tender (January), Development of profiler (February to June), Quality Assurance Measures (July to September 2014), Training in the use of the profiler (September to October 2014), Piloting of the profiler by trained staff (October 2014 to May 2015), Collection of feedback and implementations of changes to profiler (October 2014 to June 2015).Adjudicaciones
