De applicatieprogrammatuur is door DTN ontwikkeld en kan alleen door DTN onderhouden en veranderd worden. Deze opdracht dient om de periode te overbruggen tot het nieuwe waarneemnetwerk is ontwikkeld, geinstalleerd en volledig in gebruik genomen. Daarvoor heeft het KNMI via een EU-aanbesteding een nieuwe opdrachtnemer (Campbell Scientific) gecontracteerd, zie aankondigingen 2020/S 145-357135 en 2023/S 033-095242. Dit zal naar verwachting 5 jaar duren (tot 2027). Het KNMI houdt zich het recht voor om de opdracht aan DTN dan met nog twee jaar te verlengen. De totale geraamde maximale waarde van deze opdracht is daarom 7 x 223.370 euro/jaar = 1.563.590 euro.
