St. Olafs Hospital HF (the Awarding Authority) wishes to enter into an agreement for procurement of Maldi-TOF mass spectrometer. The contract includes an equipment unit which shall be installed at the Department for medical microbiology. The equipment unit comprises of a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer (MS) connected to a database system for identification of microorganisms. The equipment unit shall be used in connection diagnostics and research. Area of use: Identification of micro organisms. The system shall use accepted taxonomy for micro organisms. The system shall be able to identify a broad spectrum of micro organisms, including high pathogenetic organisms, correct to genus, preferably to species level. Automation. The system shall have automatic identification of micro organisms and the reply to the user at the laboratory shall state the name of the micro organism with a score of how secure the identification is compared with stems in the database. The system must be able to communicate in real time two-way with the laboratory's information system (LIS). Communication with LIS must be efficient and based on standardised protocols. Describe which communication possibilities there are to LIS and possibly other instruments (e.g. resistance automatic machines).Awards
