Adhering closely to aims and aspirations in the new Drug Strategy 'Building Recovery in Communities', (2010), we expect our new service to work closely with staff, Healthcare, education and other agencies within the YOI to improve the health and wellbeing of young offenders, supporting abstinence based treatment objectives, building social and employment skills that will in turn, contribute to the overall reduction in re-offending. The commissioned service will be expected to provide interventions and support to address the individual assessed needs of young people within the YOI,working in partnership with services in Suffolk and elsewhere, to ensure the smooth transition from prison to community, wherever the young offender's home community is. The Commissioning Partnership wants to procure an holistic substance misuse treatment service that delivers personalised and balanced interventions. It is vital that the intensive support delivered within prison continues upon release, with the assistance of social support networks, to prevent young people continuing to misuse substances or becoming problematic adult substance misusers.Awards
