The scheme is proposed by Oak Foundation (the Contracting Authority).Oak Foundation (the Contracting Authority) is part of the Luminus Group of companies which is a successful registered social landlord owning over 6000 properties, based in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Oak Foundation focuses on the provision of housing for the elderly and those with special needs.The Contracting Authority requires expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced contractors in connection with the scheme. The scheme will provide 55 new apartments (47 one bedroom units and 8 two bedroom units) with tenure mix yet to be confirmed (confirmation at invitation to tender stage).Following pre-qualification, formal tender and evaluation to establish the most economically advantageous scheme, the Contracting Authority intends to appoint a single contractor to design and construct the scheme.The successful contractor will be required to enter into a JCT Design and Build Contract (2011 Edition) as further amended in accordance with the Contracting Authority's requirements and executed as a deed. Further details of the form of contract and amendments will be set out in the invitation to tender documentation in due course.It is proposed to commence construction of the scheme in July 2014 with completion due in March 2016.Further details of the Contracting Authority's requirements will be included in the invitation to tender documentation. However, contractors should note that in order to be awarded the building contract, they will need to be able to successfully demonstrate both knowledge and experience in providing works of the type described in the invitation to tender documents in the context of extra care developments.Awards
