We are looking for a contractor to carry out the inward and return transport for the exhibition Ships, Clocks & Stars: the Quest for Longitude at Sea which will take place at the National Maritime Museum 11 July 2014- 4 January 2015 and tour to the following venues in the USA and Australia: Folger Shakespeare Library, Washington April 2015 - September 2015 Adler Planetarium, Chicago November 2015 - March 2016 Australian National Maritime Museum, Sydney: November 2016 -March 2017 The contractor will be expected to work closely with the NMM and all touring venues to supply sufficiently qualified staff, vehicles, and equipment to ensure the timely delivery of the project. Demonstrable experience of undertaking transport to museum standards is a must. Significant experience of working with highly valuable historic objects, including their handling, complex packing and installation is vital. Experience of organising shipments including freighter consignments, in parallel with working with overseas agents and customs, and arranging courier travel and accommodation will be key. Applicants must also be aware that the ability to meet timeframes will be crucial. The contractor will also need to provide assistance with packing, supply suitable crates and transit containers where required, and provide crate storage for the duration of the exhibition at NMM. The contractor will also need to arrange suitable secure and environmentally controlled storage for crates at each touring venue overseas. The tender will include: 1. Packing and crating of all objects for the NMM show and for objects travelling to all touring venues 2. Transport of loans in to the NMM 3. De-installation and installation of oversized works at the NMM 4. Storage of crates for the duration of the NMM show 5. Dispersal of NMM only loans 6. Onward transfer of objects travelling to all tour venues: including transfer from Greenwich to Washington, Washington to Chicago, Chicago to Australia 7. Dispersal of all objects from the final venue the Australian National Maritime Museum 8. Booking of transport for all couriers for the NMM show and for each stage of the tour 9. Booking of hotels and providing per diem for couriers for the NMM show and for each stage of the tour
