The University has appointed Willmott Dixon via the Scape Major Works Framework to design and construct the building and now requires a consultant to provide the following services. Cost Management, including quantity surveying and contract administration. Technical Advisory services, covering Architecture, Building Services, Structural Engineering and Acoustics design. Clerk of Works, including the role of supervisor as defined by the NEC Suite of Contracts. The brief for the building is as follows, Flagship / iconic / landmark single building of circa 5,600 m2 (GIFA) Facilities to include centrally controlled teaching space (e.g. seminar / lecture rooms), primary campus catering facility and research and enterprise space themed on Fusion, a central concept of the BU2018 strategy Minimum requirement to achieve BREEAM Excellent Aspiration for market leading sustainable design Delivery by July 2016 The Scape Major Works Framework is an OJEU compliant strategic procurement arrangement between Scape and Willmott Dixon Construction which is open to all Public Sector Organisations. The framework utilises a two stage design and build procurement route and the Consultant will play a key role in auditing the design and contract proposal pre-contract and managing delivery post contract. The project management function will be provided by the Universitys Estates Development Team. Further information about the Scape Major Works Framework can be found at http://www.scapebuild.co.uk/ Bournemouth University is inviting Potential Providers to respond to the Universitys requirement. In addition to the requirement as described above, the University is also including the option to extend, at its sole discretion, the appointment to include a possible further similar engagement on a second construction project of a similar size and scope at one of its two campuses (Talbot or Lansdowne Campus) to be completed by or before Summer 2018. If this second build project is procured through a similar route the University will once again require a Construction Consultant operating in a similar role to the first appointment Fusion 1 project. This contract notice is therefore advertised for a firm commitment for the project described as Fusion 1 but may also include the option to extend the arrangement to include a second similar project. Such optional appointment would be likely to take place in the Autumn of 2014. The Invitation to Tender will provide the detail about how this optional extension would operate. This potential second build project would be c. 7000 m2 and have a construction value of circa 15m GBP excluding VAT but including design fees.Awards
