Buying entity🇬🇧 Wirral Borough Council Buying unitnot reported Publication date2011-06-16 Contest statusnot reported DescriptionThe contract is for projects for "hard to reach" learners aged 19+.Wirral Lifelong and Family Learning Service has an allocation of funding from the Skills Funding Agency for revenue projects for Neighbourhood Learning in Deprived Communities (NLDC) for the academic year 2011 -2012. 152 700 GBP is available to provide new learning opportunities with a target of 450 learners - it is envisaged that this funding will support in the region of 10 projects ensuring a variety of learner needs and areas are supported.The priority recipients of this fund are Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations engaged in direct delivery of learning or working in partnership with a range of providers that are offering learning, who can provide effective learning and who can enrol and retain harder to reach learners. Preference will be given to partnership working. Progression is important.We are seeking innovative courses that will engage and appeal to new groups of hard to reach learners.-- To develop community learning through partnership working,-- To contribute to local priorities for informal adult learning and personal and community development learning,-- To contribute to the national strategy for neighbourhood renewal and civil renewal through community-based learning,-- To broaden and improve the quality of the learning provider base, particularly voluntary, community and faith organisations,-- To improve the local environment through the provision of learning in programmes to promote both neighbourhood and civil renewal and active citizenship skills,-- To deliver innovative first steps towards pre-employment support and training to enable adults to take steps to move towards employment.Learner target groups:-- NLDC funding is entirely for courses for learners aged 19+,-- NLDC programmes should target groups of learners, according to levels of prior achievement to widen participation and encourage progression, especially to level 2.Awards
