The newly established Highly Specialised Technologies Evaluation Committee will develop guidance for NHS England as to whether highly specialised technologies should be nationally commissioned for England. It will base recommendations on a review of the available evidence and on consideration of the following criteria: * Nature of the condition * Impact of the technology * Cost to NHS and PSS * Value for money * Impact beyond health * Impact on service delivery Other factors taken into account are set out in the Highly Specialised Technologies interim Process and Methods Guide which is available on the NICE website at http://www.nice.org.uk/media/DE4/9A/HSTCombinedInterimProcessMethods.pdf.
