Buying entity๐ฌ๐ง Merseyside Integrated Transport Authority Buying unitnot reported Publication date2013-07-19 Contest statusnot reported DescriptionThe Merseyside Integrated Transport Authority is seeking a supplier of a new recovery vehicle to replace its existing 10 year old recovery vehicle with a similar vehicle of a more modern standard. The existing vehicle is a Ford Iveco chassis with a gross weight of 18,000 kg which is a slideback (7,000 kg) accident recovery vehicle with winch and crane facility (2,500 kg). Merseytravel would look to trade in the existing vehicle (reg DU02 LWS) which has covered approx. 14,000 km. In addition Merseytravel is also investigating the option of replacing its existing HGV recovery vehicle. The current vehicle is nearly 20 years old but has a very low mileage of 11,500 km. It is therefore considered that a new vehicle will not be necessary and that we would seek to obtain a 2 or 3 year old vehicle that would provide a recovery facility for a fully laden 44 ton HGV vehicle. The vehicles supplied must be proved to be compliant with the necessary standards and regulations for legal operation on the UK Highway. Health and safety is also paramount and any vehicle must meet all health and safety legislation and be operable in a safe manner. The vehicles should be easy to operate as it is likely that a number of Authority staff will use the vehicle. The Authority would expect training to be provided for its staff on the operation of the vehicle. The Authority is looking at the option of either leasing the vehicle or to purchase the vehicle from the supplier.Awards
