The Universal Youth Support service will include open access, outdoor activities and effectively targeted and suitable provision for vulnerable and hard to reach groups including disabled young people with challenging and complex needs. The Universal Youth Support service enables the Royal Borough of Greenwich to meet its statutory duty to secure and promote young people's access to educational and recreational leisure time activities under Section 507B of the Education Act 1996, introduced through Section 6 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006. The programme will be informed by the views of local young people and include: -- Educational leisure time activities eg learning opportunities through residential, weekend or holiday-time activities and volunteering activity which improve young people's personal and social development and delivered using youth work methods and approaches. -- Recreational leisure time activities such as sports, informal physical activities, cultural activities including music, performing and visual arts. The requirement is split into 2 lots: -- Lot 1 is awarded to Charlton Athletic Community Trust to provide year-round universal youth provision covering four geographical areas, through direct delivery and sub-contracting arrangements. This will include a proportion of 'high support' provision for young people with complex or challenging needs and offer a youth work curriculum to meet the needs of young people in the Royal Greenwich young people. -- Lot 2 is awarded to Futureversity to provide a Summer Programme of short courses, through direct delivery and sub-contracting arrangements for young people in the Royal borough of Greenwich including those requiring 'high support' due to their complex or challenging needs.
