SMG, an exempt charity and non-departmental government body, and its wholly owned trading subsidiary, SMG Enterprises Ltd, have a turnover of GBP 50-70m comprising grant in aid, commercial income and other funding. The group comprises five national museums, the Science Museum London, the National Railway Museum York, and its sister museum, Locomotion in Shildon Co Durham, the National Media Museum in Bradford and the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester. The appointed firms will be providing object transportation services for collections, loans and acquisitions to SMG, ensuring compliance with all Treasury requirements; The purpose of this pre-qualifying questionnaire is to identify suitable organisations to provide object transportation services and to shortlist up to 10 companies to invite to tender.
