Im Jahr 2020 erfolgte eine Uberprufung der Eisenbahnkreuzungen (EK) nach EisbKrV2012, die Eisenbahnbehorde hat darauf aufbauend als Bescheidauflage die Erneuerung aller Eisenbahnkreuzungssicherungsanlagen (EKSA) bis Ende 2026 angeordnet. Angeregt wurde seitens der Behorde die Erarbeitung einer Machbarkeitsstudie zur Auflassung der Eisenbahnkreuzungen in der Gemeinde Krumpendorf. Seit 2021 wurde zwischen den Beteiligten versucht, eine Moglichkeit zur Auflassung der Eisenbahnkreuzungen zu finden. Mehrere Varianten wurden aufbereitet und diskutiert, letztlich scheitert eine Konsensfindung bisher auch an der Finanzierung der erforderlichen Massnahmen. Vor dem Hintergrund der weiteren Aufwertung der grossraumigen Verbindung von Nordosteuropa Richtung Italien hat die Auflassung der Eisenbahnkreuzungen im Krumpendorf hohe Prioritat seitens der Eisenbahn.
