A growing political consensus is emerging -- led by Nigeria -- that action needs to be taken to reduce barriers to regional trade. As a result, trade facilitation particularly along key transport corridors - principally the Abidjan-Lagos Corridor, which carries approximately 70 % of regional trade in goods - has been highlighted as a priority towards boosting trade and investment.Building on the momentum created in West Africa by the Abuja Process and the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement at the multilateral level, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark has decided to assist with the initial feasibility and design phase of a cross border trade facilitation programme along the Abidjan-Lagos corridor or, if found more feasible, another corridor in the region.In order to ensure robust management of this initiative, the Ministry now seeks to contract consultancy support to deliver a cross-visit to East Africa from a West African delegation and complete an initial package of deliverables to define the scope of programme activities and begin preliminary feasibility work.The contract is for 16 months with an option for an additional 4 months. The contract has a maximum budget of DKK 4 600 000.The award of contract is subject to the final approval of the programme by the relevant authorities.Awards
