Die zentral von den IT-Diensten der Universitat betriebenen und administrierten Systeme werden fur rechenintensive Forschungsprojekte im Bereich der Grundlagen- und angewandten Forschung benotigt. Die Cluster mussen einfach zu administrieren sein und umfassende Fernwartungsmoglichkeiten besitzen. Die Systeme sollen auf der x86-Architektur (64-bit) basieren und unter Linux (RHEL) betrieben werden. Dies begrundet sich einerseits durch die Verfugbarkeit zahlreicher Software Tools und Spezialanwendungen fur wissenschaftlich-technische Zwecke, zum anderen durch die langjahrigen Erfahrungen sowohl auf Nutzer- wie auch Administratorseite mit fruheren (und aktuell betriebenen) Rechenclustern vergleichbaren Typs.Awards
