Both of these are long-term trend studies and give a good insight into the resulting development in the science subjects in Norwegian schools. In addition, PISA follows the development in reading at the secondary school level. The studies also provide information on relevant background factors and characteristics for learning environments and teaching forms. In addition, TIMSS gets information on teachers.
