Buying entity🇸🇪 Chalmers tekniska högskola AB Buying unitnot reported Publication date2011-02-23 Contest statusnot reported DescriptionPurpose of the required item is simultaneous thermal analysis (TG+DSC) of multi-component alloys and powder metallurgy steels that requires ability to perform analysis with highsensitivity at elevated temperatures (covering melting temperatures) and strict processing atmosphere control. At the same time required item has to fulfill suitableness of the thermal analysis with a good precision at low temperature range (below 800oC), required for analysis of polymers. Thermal analysis of multi-component alloys is focused on the phase transformations (solid-solid transitions) and melting/crystallization behavior. The main interest during thermoanalytical analysis of metallic powders is focused on oxidation/reduction behavior and includes analysis of degassing behavior of adsorbed species on the powder surface and surface chemical reactions between metallic powder and processing atmosphere as well as with some additives in the powder compact. This puts strict requirements to processing gas purity control and high resolution of mass balance system.During analysis of metallic materials ability to work with a number of processing atmospheres, starting from vacuum and including inert gases, mixtures of inert gases with hydrogen as well as pure hydrogen atmosphere, is required. At the same time, high tightness of the furnace used and gas flow control ability are required to assure high-purity of processing atmosphere due to high-sensitivity to oxidation of metallic powders. Availability of some additional gas-purity control system is optional. Ability to work with high range of the heating/cooling rates is necessary as well. Taking into account required high-precision thermal analysis of polymers at low temperatures (800oC), that is difficult to achieve with the sensors designed for analysis of alloys at high-temperature range (RT to ~1500oC), easy to change sensor system and/or double-furnace design can be an option. Availability of userfriendly software package for measurement, evaluation and transfer of data, is required. Mass of the analyzed material is below 5 g.
