Specific focus is laid on the support to agricultural value chains with high potential in terms of increased income and employment opportunties for women and men.In the Gaza Strip, the agricultural sector has long been a key driver of economic growth due to the production of high value and export-oriented crops as well as the production of vegetables, fruits and livestock, sold in the local Gaza market or the West Bank and Isreali markets. Today, the sector is performing far under its potential. Despite the many challenges, urban agriculture is however a promising pro-poor sub-sector with growth potential that could enhance food security and generate increased income for small-holder women and men producers living in the Gaza Strip.The overall objective of the tendered project is to increase the income of women and men smallholder producers through more effective and inclusive urban agriculture market systems. Expected outcomes are:-- Capacities and practices of stakeholders in urban agriculture are improved and lead to increased employment and income opportunities of small scall producers (women and men),-- Market functions in urban agriculture systems are improved and lead to increased access to market by small scale producers (women and men).The duration of the overall intervention is 6 years, with two implementation phases. The first phase includes an inception phase of maximum nine months to conduct in-depth market system assessments/diagnosis, including a stakeholders assessment and gender analysis, and identify partners and specific areas of intervention.The project is expected to be implemented with a market, developmental and systemic approach, with the implementing organization.-- or a consortium of organizations,-- mainly playing a facilitator/catalyst role. The project should include a strong capacity building component of the local partners and support innovative initiatives of small scale farmers in the field of urban agriculture.Main tasks and responsibilities of the mandatory include:-- overall project management including monitoring and reporting on results,-- management of fiduciary funds,-- provision of technical assistance in the selected sub-sectors,-- facilitation of market system development,-- capacity building of partner organizations/service providers The required profile of the mandatory includes proven experience and expertise in results oriented project management, pro-poor market system development in fragile contexts, agriculture value chain development, gender mainstreaming, capacity building of local partners, and a very good understanding for the socio-political and economic context of the Gaza Strip.Adjudicações
