La couverture de la route nationale N01/40 va creer une construction utilitaire qui fera environ 1 km de plus en longueur, 30 m de plus en largeur et 7 m de plus en hauteur. Sur le toit de la construction, se trouveront un espace vert et libre traversant pour la population du quartier qui sera desservi par des rampes, des escaliers et des ascenseurs pour les pietons et les cyclistes. Dans un meme temps, le tunnel de Schoneich sera remis en etat. Les couts totaux s'elevent a CHF 583 millions (etat DP/MP 2016). La duree totale des travaux est de 5.5 ans.
