National Government policy and targets, fiscal drivers and environmental benefits are driving the sustainable management of such wastes, including through appropriate management of the Authority's Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs). To this end, the Authority is procuring a waste management contract to procure Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) Services including operation of an integrated Waste Transfer Station (WTS). The services required under the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) Services contract may include: -- Managing, operating and maintaining (to include initial refurbishment as necessary) Staffordshire County Council (the Authority) HWRC sites and an integrated Waste Transfer Station (WTS) in order to achieve specified levels of re-use, recycling, composting and recovery; -- Securing markets for recyclable materials, organic waste treatment and asbestos disposal; -- Transportation of residual waste from HWRC sites and the integrated WTS to Delivery Points as directed by the Authority; -- Receipt, management and disposal of household hazardous waste and other miscellaneous ad hoc waste arising from or delivered to HWRC sites or collected by the Contractor (as set out in the specification).Awards
